Locked Hands Style
April 14, 2009

Tuesday, April 14, 2009

This issue of eNotes contains an audio lesson on the Locked hands style of playing. It is made famous by the pianist, George Shearing, and is even referred to as Shearing Voicing. It is characterized by very thickly textured chords harmonizing every note of the melody.

First, let's look at a video of George Shearing himself playing in this way, then we'll have our lesson.
