Play PIano By Ear - Pt. 2
January 15, 2013

Tuesday, January 15,, 2013

Hello

Today's lesson is part of the Playing By Ear series.

When starting to learn to play by ear, it is a good idea to use simple folk songs. They tend to use only 3 chords. In Auld Lang Syne, there are a few more chords as well as some options for the pirmary chords. Here are the words. Underline the words where you think the chords belong. This will be discussed in the video.

Should auld acquaintance be forgot and never brought to mind
Should auld acquaintance be forgot and days of auld lang syne
For auld lang syne, my dear, for auld lang syne
We'll take a cup of kindness yet for auld lang syne

Here are some of the other most frequently used chords in the key of C major.
C major, G7, F major, A minor, D minor, D7, E7, E minor, C7.
(I had some difficulty shutting the camera off so please forgive my fumbling at the end!)
